Wait for it.... Wait for it.... I'm just mad about hats! Really. I love wearing hats. Sometimes I look at images of men and women from the 1920s and 30s with nostalgia because it seems like everyone wore hats all the time! Perhaps people took off their hats when they were inside as a form of courtesy or something, but I would like to make a case today for wearing hats inside--unless they are so big that they block people's views! Yes, I'm talking to you Kentucky Derby hat wearers.

While it must be a lot of fun to wear Big Bird hats, I go for something simpler and more practical.
In the summer I love to wear baseball caps. I do not wear them when I teach. They block my face, and I think it's important for students to see my expressions (eye brow raises and eye rolls, right?! ha!)
In the winter I like to wear beanies. Some people call these items toboggan caps, but I don't. In particular, I like to wear MK (Michael Kors--not Mary Kay, as one of my students assumed!) beanies. See below two of the five MK beanies I own.

I have three variations on this one: maroon, beige, black and white. I also have a gray one of a different style with a pom-pom on top.

This MK hat displays no MKs. The silver medallion says "Michael Kors." This hat's a little dressier, if that can be a thing with beanies, than the others. If you look closely you can see that with this hat I actually wore an MK gray scarf that matches the MK gray beanie. I just can't get enough of the MK. I am so vain.
You might be thinking by now, "So you wear beanies to work?" Yes, I do. I wore the maroon one to an exam day and workshop day. I wore the black one to meetings. I love the feeling of wearing these beanies. They are warm, and they make me feel cozy.
If you are ever having one of those days where you just need an extra layer of cozy, put on a beanie that is fashionable. Don't wear the one you wear when you rake the leaves or walk the dog. Wear the one that has some style! Find your style and...
