It's Labor Day: Don't Moose with Me! (or Jane Austen)

It's Labor Day--a day off from teaching. Does that mean that this professor isn't checking emails, working on lesson plans, reading for class, or writing an essay? Nope. Does it mean that she is wearing loungewear while doing it? Yup.
As you can see from the brand name of the boxer shorts above, I am a lazy one. Lazy One clothes are great because they are self-referential. They are the sign of entitlement. They justify that, yes, I am lazy, and I know it. I ain't ashamed of it. Heck, I'm proud of it! Lazy One designs include moose--a lot of moose--bears, lobsters, etc. Perhaps Lazy One represents "what life is like in Maine" (shout out to all of my fellow lazy one profs who work in Maine). We work hard when we have to, want to, but we also recognize our right to be lazy when we work. Today is one of those days.
Yes, I own the pair of boxer shorts featured above. See pic below. No, I didn't buy them for my husband and then borrow them. I bought them for myself. This lazy one bought herself some lazy clothes.

But guess what! I found a way to color coordinate my lazy shorts with a shirt I got four years ago when I participated in a five-week National Endowment for the Humanities Summer Seminar on Jane Austen and Her Contemporaries. The writing on the shirt, as shown below, matches the shorts. Boom! Color coordination of lazy clothes with work clothes.

Somehow, the Austen-moose-mashup works for me. I am writing about Austen-monsters-mashups, so this fits me well. Carry on, professor friends, as you work from home. Hopefully you can find a connection between your work and your loungewear--it doesn't always happen, of course, but when it does, please tell your friends all about it. :D
