Walk on the Wild Side (Purple Leopard)

I decided to take a walk on the wild side today. I deemed it time to bust out the leopard-print dress. Throughout my life I have owned various leopard-print articles of clothing and accessories. These include:

  • leopard pants

  • leopard skirt

  • leopard shirt

  • leopard sweater

  • leopard scarf

  • leopard dress

  • leopard jewelry

  • leopard shoes

For some reason I find myself drawn to this print. It hides what you want to hide, accentuates what you want to accentuate. Some people label it sexy; some tarty. Va va voom!

Don't fool yourself into believing that all leopard prints are the same. Oh, no! There are different styles of leopard print, and different colors!

Rainbow
brown, black, and tan
white, gray, and black

...and then there's the one I wore today:

(Again, thanks to the Kohl's clearance rack!)

This patten is an adaptation of leopard, not a true leopard print, and so it's a toned down version of the pattern shown on the model at the top of this post. Like most of my clothes, the dress I wore to class today is comfy (polyester/rayon) and somewhat loose fitting.

Is it appropriate to wear leopard-print to teach? Sure, especially when it's an update to the leopard print and includes various hues of purple. It's hard to go wrong with purple. ;)

Sometimes you need to wear a dress like this to remember that you can handle all of the things that students throw at you--figuratively, of course. I know that I needed a little bit of the leopard's stealth and strength today.
